Intro

The following pages and screencasts will explain to you how to use image adjustment options within Pixlr.

Make sure that you are familiar with how to use these options as you will want to touch up your photos as you turn them in, and these are quick easy ways to do that.

Brightness and Contrast

THIS screencast is about how to adjust the brightness and contrast of an image in Pixlr.

Adjusting Hue and Saturation

THIS screencast is about how to adjust the hue, saturation, and lightness of an image.

Levels and Auto Levels

What are levels? Go to THIS website and read about how the levels feature works, learn what a histogram is, and other uses for the levels tool. Just read the sections that are highlighted yellow.

Watch the following tutorial about what levels are and how they can affect your photo editing. The tutorial is in photoshop but the concept is the same for Pixlr.

The concepts you just saw in the tutorial are the same in Pixlr. HERE is a screencast on how to adjust the levels in Pixlr.

Remember - levels adjusts the shadows, midtones and highlights of an image. The "Auto Levels" feature will sometimes work to change the shadows/midtones/highlights automatically, but most times doing it manually will make your image turn out better.

Curves

THIS screencast will show you how to use the image adjustment option "Curves." Curves are very fun to experiment with!

Desaturate, Invert, Threshold & Posterize

THIS screencast will demonstrate how to use the Desaturate, Invert, Threshold & Posterize options in the Image Adjustments menu of Pixlr.
