An activity is generally an interactive learning segment for a student in a course. Three basic activities include:
Assignment
The assignment activity module allows teachers to collect work from students, review it and provide feedback including grades. Students can submit any digital content (files), including, for example, word-processed documents, spreadsheets, images, audio and video clips. Assignments don't necessarily have to consist of file uploads. Alternatively, teachers can ask students to type directly into Moodle using an online text assignment. There is also an offline activity. aa
Choice
A choice activity is very simple – the teacher asks a question and specifies a choice of multiple responses. It can be useful as a quick poll to stimulate thinking about a topic; to allow the class to vote on a direction for the course; to confirm students' understanding of an agreement (appropriate use, etiquette). The results can be public or private. Typically it is best to allow students to view the results only after they have responded. You can choose to limit how many students can select each response (example application - signing up for various group activities, choosing a team or topic). You can include media in a choice activity.a
Glossary
The Glossary activity allows participants to create and maintain a list of definitions, like a dictionary. It can be used to review key concepts, create a student directory, faq, rules and policies, quotes, tips, and examples. The glossary uses higher order thinking skills in that it helps students develop schemata, make connections to their own experiences, and elaborate on concepts. Glossary settings allow the requirement of teacher approval before new entries are displayed. There is a Glossary block for your sidebar that will display a random selection from the glossary. Moodle will automatically link words in the course to the matching terms in the glossary, unless you disable this feature.
