Word Press Quest 6: Headers and Footers

PDF Document (Link to PDF Directions)

Introduction

Headers and Footers are critical for documents you create as an agent. Here's an example: you are reading a manual and it says to turn to page 28, and there are no page numbers in the footer! Another example: You locate a document in the possession of an agent you suspect of falsifying a report. You then notice a date from 2006 in the header. A footer or header helps provide additional information on the pages of a document, and can save a lot of time.

As you finish a document you may want to have information, possibly a title, your name, class number, and assignment appear on each page if you are going to print it. The part on the top of a document that repeats is called a header. On the bottom of the page you may want a page number or date of the file.  The part on the bottom of the document that repeats is called the footer.  To earn a gem, add a header and footer to your existing Poem document called RAIN OF LEAVES.

Step 1 - Open the file called RAIN OF LEAVES

Step 2 - Click on INSERT on the menu bar.  Select HEADER and align right. On the first line type Mission: Suite Tools, on the second line type Word Processing,on the third line type your name. Click out of the Header back on the body of the document.

Step 3 - Click on INSERT on the menu bar.  Select Footer and align center. Add today's date and press ENTER.

Step 4 - Click on INSERT on the menu bar again and select PAGE NUMBER.  Add the page in the center of the document.  It will automatically number the pages.

Step 5 - Change the name of the document from RAIN OF LEAVES to WORD PROCESSING EVALUATION

Step 6 - Check with your SSI Chief about sharing the file, printing the final document, and/or posting to your Secret File Space for evaluation.
