Character Analysis (20 points)

No matter how big or small the part, every actor needs to know his/her character well. Use your imagination to develop your characterization by answering the following questions. Answer in COMPLETE SENTENCES; explain your opinions.

1.) What does your character want in this scene? What is your character's motivation for doing what he/she does?

2.) What obstacles stand in his or her way?

3.) What happens when your character confronts these obstacles?

4.) Are there any distinctive elements in your character's way of speaking? Is his or her language elaborate, plain, or musical? How are you going to present these elements?

5.) What is your character thinking during this scene? How does he or she react to the other characters and events?

6.) How does your character see himself/herself in relationship to the other characters? What, if any, are the power dynamics? Is class an issue in this scene? If so, how? If class isn't an issue, what are the other factors determining how this character reacts to the other characters in the scene?
