Group Practice Inside and Outside Word Strategies Assignment
List you name and your partner's name on this assignment.
After reading pp. 5-10 from your text do the following:
1. Identify words that either of you do not know.
2. Decide on an appropriate word learning strategy: inside (deconstruction) or outside (context)
3. Use the strategy together talking about the process.
4. Write the word, the strategy, and the meaning of the word you determined using the word learning strategies on the assignment page that follows these directions.
5. Read you guess in place of the word in the sentence and see if your guess makes sense.
You need to find at least six words - three for each person in the group.
Hint: If you read the book on one computer screen and type the assignment in your partner's computer, it will be easier to get this project done. You do not have to submit the assignment for each person.
If you cannot find words that you do not know, talk to your teacher. He or she will identify important words for which you can use the word learning strategies.
