Find a partner who you can learn with not who you can "have fun" with.
Together read pages 5 - 10 from Talent Is Not Enough by John Maxwell.
While reading this book, do the following steps:
1. Identify words that either of you do not know.
2. Decide on an appropriate word learning strategy: inside (deconstruction) or outside (context)
3. Use the strategy together talking about the process.
4. Write the word, the strategy, and the meaning of the word you determined using the word learning strategies on the assignment page that follows these directions.
5. Read your guess in place of the word in the sentence and see if your guess makes sense.
Hint: If you read the book in from one computer screen and type the assignment in your partner's computer, it will be easier to get this project done.
If you cannot find words that you do not know, talk to your teacher. He or she will identify important words for which you can use the word learning strategies.
