Electronic Library of Minnesota (ELM)

What is ELM?

ELM is the Electronic Library of Minnesota, a free and online virtual library for Minnesota residents. It contains 45 databases, more than 17,000 magazines, 340 full-text newspapers, 15,000+ ebooks, and multimedia resources.

Accessing ELM

All Minnesota residents can access ELM resources using their library card number. Many schools have custom links and passwords for their staff and students. Select ELM resources can also be accessed via Gale's Access My Libary apps for iOS and Android.

Differentiation

Content in ELM is available for a variety of levels. Encyclopedia Britannica provides elementary, middle and high school content. Some databases are searchable by Lexile; in Middle Search Plus, for example, you may search by ranges or enter a specific level.
