The second R we'll examine is Relevance. Watch the video below. As you do reflect on ways that you try to be relevant to your students. When you've finished the video, do the activity below.
Reflection Activity
Reflect on your own teaching experience so far. What are some times where you have succeeded at connecting in a culturally relevant way? Are there times where you struggle with this? Are there areas you see for self-improvement?
After thinking on this, submit a short paragraph or two that answers either of the following questions:
1. What is one area where you think you can improve in how you teach in a culturally relevant manner?
2. Tell about a time where you struggled with cultural relevance. What would you do differently now?
