Assignment 4: Getting to know VoiceThread
The next step is to meet and get to know an elementary student that you will write a personalized story for. Since we are working online, we will be using a web application called VoiceThread to create interviews. VoiceThread is the application that I used to make the “Writer’s Toolbox” presentation. Now you’ll be creating your own thread.
First, get to know VoiceThread. VoiceThread is an application that allows you to upload pictures, video and audio in a slideshow format. You can add comments and notes to each slide.
Click on the following links highlighted in blue:
First, spend a little time browsing around in VoiceThread.
Then view the 1 Minute VoiceThread Tutorial
• As you view the tutorial, write down the steps to take to make your own VoiceThread. Also, keep note of any questions that you have.
• Next, browse to view at least two other VoiceThreads that other people have made. (To browse, click on the “Browse” tab at the top of the page.)
After you’ve viewed the tutorial and watched a couple of examples, answer the following questions.
1. What are the steps to follow to create a VoiceThread?
2. What question(s) do you have about making your own thread?
3. Which examples did you view? (List at least 2) What did you like/dislike about these examples?
