You will be given a handout listing your personal scores on your past MCA graduation reading tests and your past NWEA reading tests. You are to do the following:

Look for trends in your numbers:
  • In what strand areas do you have high scores?
  • In what strand areas do you have low scores?
  • Compare your comprehension of narrative and expository (informational) text. Is one easier to understand than the other.
Look for trends in your achievement:

  • Have you been progressing positively, gradually getting better and better in reading?
  • Do you have sporadic, up and down, achievement? What could be the reason for these sporadic scores?
  • Did you have great achievement at one time? What did you do differently when you took that text?
Look at your lexile range. The lexile number is a way to measure the difficulty of text. The numbers show text that is at your "just right" reading level. If you read below your lexile level, you do not challenge yourself and may not continue to improve your reading level. If you read above your lexile level, you may not understand the text and give up.

Proceed to the next assignment and write about the trends that you notice.
