The first step of the Aviary project is to decide on an outline for your podcast episode. Use your bulleted lists from your sources to identify the main ideas worth sharing. Make notes on the following:
- A main idea to guide your podcast. While you won't need a traditional thesis statement, you will develop an overarching idea that relates to all of the supporting ideas and details you present.
- Write down three or four supporting ideas with information from each of your sources that you'd like to share. Your segment should be a summary of your sources, as well as a commentary on those sources. That is, you should express your opinions about what you read.
- Decide on a concluding statement or idea. What do you want your audience to think about when your podcast concludes?
- Mark each item with the name of the person who will speak on that topic.
