3.5 Good Walking

Walking can be an excellent form of exercise.  For your current level of fitness, walking can be an great place to begin.  

1. Watch the video below.

2.Walk for 10 minutes at a casual, comfortable rate of speed.

3. Check your pulse at your neck (carotid artery) by counting the number of times your heart beats in 20 seconds and multiple by 3.

4. Rest for 10 minutes to let your heart rate return to normal.

5. Walk for 10 minutes at a faster pace as suggested in the video.

6. Again, check your pulse.  Notice the difference from your first 10 minute walk.
