In this module, students will learn about

  • processing advancements (mechanical to computerized, analog to digital)
  • input and output devices; port identification
  • operating systems
  • software
  • file existence, organization and naming convention
  • networks
  • acceptable use and policy existence


Students will complete, practice, or attain skills with

  • basic computer operation
  • basic software categorization

Students will evaluate

  • computer component connectivity issues (basic)
  • software choice situations

Students will exhibit in a digital portfolio

  1. a systems-concept graphic
  2. a software and extensions graphic or explanation
  3. a "past" versus "present" technology graphic, labelled appropriately as analog/digital/mechanical, etc.
  4. an understanding of computer components & their functions
  5. a choice item
